Patience and Perseverance...

Sometimes patience and perseverance are the key...

Have you noticed that you watch you tube and see all these great crafting videos and they just make it look so easy! It all just looks so natural everything is so well laid out they have their composition figured out straight away and your wondering why isn't it like that for me. I have been crafting for four years now and its definitely gotten a lot easier especially after I found the type of card and stamps I prefer to use, but this card was one of those cards that just weren't happening straight away. It took four attempts to get there, its not perfect and there will probably be a fifth but I don't hate it!

Souper Hero

This is the finished card and boy did it take a lot of hard work it all started with the soup can and I wanted to make him into a souper hero! My first attempt I really wanted to finish it and the colouring and distress inks just looked messy and it just wasn't working.
As you can see the first attempt just looks really rough the colours aren't very clean and bright and the stuck on speech bubbles just wasn't working. It just didn't feel like a proper comic strip it needed to be a flat image. So I started again but messed up the layouts on the second and third cards. The final image looks so much cleaner being a flat image just like an actual comic book I still think the layout could be improved the jail bars make it have lots of harsh black lines on the left hand side where the top right hand corner is quite bare. I am super critical of my work though but that's a good thing right it only helps us improve?!? So as you can see it doesn't always happen first time but it does get there in the end and its great to see the improvements everytime.

I've been having so much fun with the heart of heart die from +CraftinDesertDivas it really is so versatile. I've already made three cards using the die in completely different ways.
This is the first card I made I cut the the die out on a piece of card to use a stencil on my card and used Tim Holtz distress inks to make the ombré heart. I then added the sweet narwhal coloured with pro markers and stamped the sentiment again using Tim Holtz inks and for the finishing touch added a few sequins.
After finishing the card I noticed how pretty the stencil looked, it seemed a shame to waste it so I cut around the heart shape to make the start of a shaker card. I wanted to keep the shaker part see thorough so there was a lot of faffing to get everything all lined up perfectly but it was defiantly worth it in the end the inside looks so pretty

The Theo's card I made was my fist thought when I saw the die and I used a technique I had seen in one of Nichol Magouriks videos called inlaid die cutting. So where it looks like it could be an absolute nightmare to put back together again it was one the quickest cards I have ever made but still so effective.

New Haul

My new haul from +CraftinDesertDivas
Came yesterday and I'm so excited to use them. I ordered the heart of hearts die which is the one I was most excited to get. It looks so versatile where you can either use the negative or the positive cut. It will make perfect confetti for shaker cards. The other things I ordered were the popped up stamp which is a cute little gopher he will be perfect for kids birthday cards. The other two stamp sets I got are kitchen cuties from the new release and they really are! A souper hero soup and the sweetest little onion amongst a few. The second one I bought for the husky I've not seen any like it England so was so excited when I saw him. It's called chilly and contains the most adorable artic critters.

It's that time again and #thedailymarker30 has begun again I'm so excited. It was stated by a lovely lady called Kathy and she encourages you to take five minutes out of your day to sit, relax and just colour! Admit it though who needs an excuse to colour! The challenge encourages you to get creative  and try and improve new tecniques.
I wanted to try out mama elephants Luna animals stamps but I didn't seem to have the right coloured promarkers so I decided to try my watercolours and I'm so pleased with the results.
